“Joy Kills Sorrow”

by Sarah McSweeney on July 11, 2011

It doesn’t matter what genre of music you listen to.  Any ear will appreciate the unique, eclectic, and creative sound of the talented musicians that make up the 5 member band “Joy Kills Sorrow”.  I was fortunate enough to see their inspiring live performance at the stunning  Blue Rock Studio, located in the Wimberley, Texas hill country.

“With its bold new brand of acoustic music, Signature Sounds recording artists, Joy Kills Sorrow, push right through the envelope and out the other side. The Boston-based stringband brings a modern sensibility to an old-world sound, channeling the rare talents of its individual members into elegant arrangements and well-crafted songs. With Bluegrass roots—its name is taken from WJKS, a radio station that broadcasted the Monroe brothers’ show in the 1930s—the band truly excels in its rich and textured treatment of contemporary material.”
