Do You Have A Favorite Song?

by Sarah McSweeney on October 18, 2012

I recently asked friends to share their favorite song.  I realize it may be difficult to narrow it down to just one, because there are so many great songs out there.  But my friends did well in choosing a wide variety of songs from every genre, some I already knew, and some I’d never heard of.  I really appreciate being introduced to new material and artists for my own song writing purposes, and have been using their suggestions for inspiration.  Even if it’s a song that doesn’t necessarily speak to me, it’s someone else’s favorite, so it’s worth listening to and examining why it’s a great song to that person.

If you have a favorite song or artist you’d like to share, please do so below.  I’d love to have more selections to listen to for my composing inspiration.

Here’s one of my all time favorites, “Frozen Love” by Buckingham Nicks, before they became a part of Fleetwood Mac.  You have to listen to the whole song for the key  change half way through that transitions the end of the song into a darker mood, complimented with beautiful harmonies and rhythmic changes.  That’s what makes “Frozen Love” one of my favorites.

One of my favorite`s is a song from Patrick Watson (Close to paradise/Luscious life), the intro and opening of the song just let`s you float down a river of dreamy sound.

Peace of “I”

Love it! I always appreciate hearing new music and artists that I would otherwise probably never have heard of. Thanks for the awesome suggestion!
